Repairs To Reed Organ

The 48 Keyless Reed Organ rollers were in a bad state when I bought the organ. Although I covered the top roller to help it feed the card through, it was only a temporary measure. In November 2007 the rollers were removed from the keyframe and sent off to Andrew Pilmer to be re-rubbered. These have now been returned and have been refitted into the keyframe. The result is no ciphering and no music slipping. The organ will now be back on the road this season - starting at The Stockyard at Easter.

New Rough Terrain Busker Trolley

The second project this winter is the making of a new trolley for the busker organs. I purchased a garden trolley and have made decorative side panels for it. The back panel is currently away being sign-written.

The next stage is to build a box to store the music & to sit the organ on whilst playing. This has now been started.

The box needs shelves putting in and doors fitting then architrave needs fitting around the joints and around the top to hold the organ in place whilst playing.

Sunday 1st April 2007

The Organ Trolley finally gets assembled ready for it's first outing at Easter. There are a couple of minor problems with the music box but these will be addressed later when I build a new box - slightly smaller than this one, which is slightly wider than the motorhome door & has to be turned sideways to go through.

The other problem is that the box top has an overhang that makes it a tight fit when the organ is in the trolley for moving.

The box above will be taken off and a base made for it so that the reed organ can be sat on it in a similar way to the original trolley I made for this organ. The base will be open for storage & have castors to allow it to be wheeled around.
